Italy Qualify for Round of 16, Wales Keep Hope

Euro 2020 starting to hold matchday 2 on Wednesday (16/6) and Thursday (17/6) at Midnight IST. As a result, Italy ensured themselves to qualify for the last 16, while Wales kept their chances of progressing.

Wales played well on matchday 2 of Group A of Euro 2020 by overthrowing Turkey two goals without reply, at Baku Olympic Stadium. That way, Wales' hopes of qualifying for the next round are alive.

Wales' first goal came in the 42nd minute. Aaron Ramsey who escaped the offside trap listed his name on the scoreboard.

The goal came from Gareth Bale's brilliant pass into the back of the Turks. Ramsey read it well and held the ball through the chest before firing into the bottom left corner.

Wales again ripped the Turkish goal net in the 90+5 minute. Credit deserves to be given to Bale who again provided the assist in the goal.

The player, who played for Tottenham Hotspur in the 2020-2021 season, brought the ball from the corner before releasing a pass which was grabbed by Connor Roberts.

WALES TEAM

A 2-0 win made Walesoccupy the second position in Group A standings after collecting three points. Wales will face Italy in the final match.

Turning to another match, Italy made sure to become the first team to qualify for the last 16 after beating Switzerland 3-0, at the Stadio Olimpico. Manuel Locatelli became a star by scoring two goals.

Giorgio Chiellini brought Italywinning in the 20th minute. The Juventus defender grabbed Lorenzo Insigne's corner. However, the goal was canceled after VAR judged the player had touched the ball with his hand before scoring.

Six minutes later Italy finally opened the scoring. Locatelli broke into the Swiss goal after receiving feedback from Domenico Berardi.

Gli Azzurri doubled their lead in the 52nd minute. Locatelli fired a shot from outside the penalty box that could not be countered by Yann Sommer. Nicolo Barella acted as a feeder for the goal.

Italy's third goal was born at the end of the second half or rather the 89th minute. Ciro Immobile fired a long-range shot that headed to the right side of the goal. Italy closed the game with a 3-0 advantage.

With that result, Italy has the right to qualify for the Round of 16 after winning two wins. Italy will decide whether to advance as group winners or runners-up against Wales in the last match.
