The struggle for the ball in midfield was fierce at the beginning of the match. The Belgian and Portuguese players did not let their opponents have the ball comfortably.

Portugal got a golden opportunity first when the game has been running for six minutes. Diogo Jota fired a shot from inside the penalty box which unfortunately was still wide.

Slowly, Belgium began to dominate possession. But Kevin De Bruyne and his friends had difficulty breaking down the opponent's defense.

Portugal is more pressured even more dangerous when launching a counter-attack. In the 25th minute, Cristiano Ronaldo almost listed his name on the scoreboard if his free-kick was not denied by Thibaut Courtois.

Belgium was finally able to break the deadlock in the 42nd minute. Thorgan Hazard's speculative kick from outside the penalty box could not be anticipated by Rui Patricio and the score 1-0 for the Red Devils advantage lasted until the break.

Entering the second half, the game is getting more interesting. Portugal, who was not eliminated just like that, began to balance the possession of the Belgian ball.

The entry of Joao Felix and Bruno Fernandes added to Portugal's pounding power. While Belgium had to pull out Kevin De Bruyne because of an injury.

Diogo Jota and Felix had threatened the Belgian goal. However, a late finish that was less effective made Portugal still failed to equalize.

Portugal pounded the Belgian defense ten minutes before normal time ended. Fernando Santos' team had created two golden opportunities.

Ruben Dias' hard header utilizing a corner kick scheme was unfortunately still able to be ignored by Courtois. Shortly after, Raphael Guerreiro's hard shot still hit the post.

Portugal continues to try to equalize. However, Belgium's disciplined defense and Courtois' toughness kept the scoreboard unchanged.

Until the referee blew the long whistle, Belgium was able to maintain its victory. Romelu Lukaku and his friends also have the right to advance to the quarter-finals and meet Italy.
